On Thursday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement commending Governor Greg Abbott for signing Constitutional Carry legislation into Texas law:

For far too long, the state represented by Bernie Sanders had gun laws that respected people's God-given right to bear arms better than a state represented by Ted Cruz. I am glad to see that the Texas legislature finally fixed that disparity and passed Constitutional carry and Governor Abbott signed this bill into law. I want to thank and congratulate bill Sponsors Matt Schaefer and Charles Schwertner, as well as everyone else whose work got this legislation across the finish line--even when so many said that it couldn't be done.
